Stuck In A Rut began as an instrumental guitar piece by Nick and hung around practices long enough to find its main vocal hook. We had a good six months where we primarily started shows with an older version of this song in which it had completely different lyrics. During the mixing period, we stressed the low end of the song, wanting the bass and the kick drum to really "thump". The vocals of the middle section were an impromptu in-studio creation by Mikey on our last day of recording at the Musician's Co-op.
